Chiroti Rava is a type of rava sooji which is specifically found in Karnataka. It is also known as Bansi Rava and it also happens to be brown in colour. It is a wheat product which is made by grinding husked wheat. This is mainly used in South India to prepare Rava Dosa, Rava Idli, and Upma. 1. Chiroti Rava Roti
Chiroti rava roti is pretty easy to make and takes up about half an hour to prepare the rotis. The ingredients for the preparation of the chiroti rava rotis are Chiroti rava by Desi Atta Company, water, ghee or oil, and salt to taste. Take a pan and boil some water with a tablespoon of oil and add salt to it. When the water starts bubbling, lower the flame and slowly keep adding chiroti rava and keep stirring the whole thing so that it falls evenly. The flour will combine with the oil and the water to form lumps. Switch the flame off and let it settle for a good 2-3 minutes. Transfer the dough in clean polythene and knead the dough and form balls of equal volume. Flatten the small dough balls into rotis using a roller or a roti maker. On a low flame, keep on frying the roti with half a tablespoon of ghee and your roti will be ready in no time.
2. Rava Idli
Another famous and delicious dish which is made using Chiroti rava is the rava idli. It takes about 40 minutes to make the idlis which can be served with coconut chutney and sambhar dal. The ingredients to make rava idli are Chiroti rava, yogurt, baking soda, and coriander leaves. Take a bowl and mix the yogurt with the chiroti rava from Desi Atta Company and make it into an idli batter. Grease the idli with some oil and place it in the steam idli cooker. Add some baking soda before you place the batter in the cooker and cook it for 10-15 minutes and voila! Your rava idlis are ready to be eaten.
3. Doodh Ki Chiroti
A sweet dish which happens to be good for your health as well. It takes about 35-40 minutes to prepare this dish and once prepared, takes about 5 minutes to finish. The ingredients are Chiroti rava from Desi Atta Company, ghee, cardamom powder, milk, saffron strands, and some dry fruits. Take a bowl and pour the chiroti rava in it with melted ghee and mix them together. Add a little bit of water and knead it into a dough. Take a pan, boil some water and add sugar to it to make it into the sugar syrup. Add cardamom powder to the solution and switch off the flame. Shape the dough into small rotis and take 4 such small rotis and give them the desired shape and fry them in oil till it is golden brown in colour. Add milk to the sugar solution and heat it till it thickens and drop the chirotis in the mixture and let it soak for some time. Garnish it with dry fruits.
