Coming from South India, Upma Suji is a commonly consumed dish in Maharashtra and; several parts of South India. This ready mix breakfast meal can be consumed throughout the year. It is a quick-to-cook and diet-friendly breakfast. Though this Upma can be prepared in a number of ways, the most common & quickest way is to heat cooking oil and add mustard seeds, cumin, ginger, green chillies, and onions. After the onions caramelise, add your choice of vegetables, salt, 2 cups of water and bring it to boil. Finally, add your Upma Suji and mix thoroughly. Your lip-smacking Upma is ready within 10 minutes when the water is completely absorbed by the Suji.
